First Listen: Lemuria, 'The Distance Is So Big' : NPR →
The band’s third album continues a tradition of songs that unfold like mini-suites, hopscotching from one melodic figure or time signature to the next with a playwright’s sense of structure.
Oh so very excited for this. I’ve gotta admit: I’m a sucker for alternating guy/girl vocals, and it’s a trick that Lemuria pulls off in spades. Look no further than “Brilliant Dancer” to see what I mean.
So this is great: Twin sisters Katie (Waxahatchee) and Allison (Swearin’) Crutchfield cover Grimes’ “Oblivion” for Rookie Mag.
A mini-P.S. Eliot reunion to cover a Grimes song? Cool cool cool.
This is what it’s all about.

Portugal. The Man - “Evil Friends”
I can’t get this out of my head.
Lemuria - “Brilliant Dancer”
Sheena Ozzella’s voice is sweet as ever on this new Lemuria track. I’m definitely looking forward to their upcoming June release.
The Front Bottoms - “Twin Size Mattress”
This is for the snakes and the people they bite;
For the friends I’ve made, for the sleepless nights;
For the warning signs I’ve completely ignored.
There’s an amount to take, reasons to take more.
It’s no big surprise you turned out this way.
When they close their eyes and prayed you would change
And they cut your hair, and sent you away
You stopped by my house the night you escaped
With tears in my eyes, I begged you to stay
You said, “Hey man, I love you but no fucking way”
Parquet Courts - “Stoned And Starving (Live at KEXP)”
Dynamic film editing, exciting new music, gloriously off-kilter guitar noodling. All the more reason to enjoy KEXP.
